Teen Art: Making Mosaics with Mary Lee-McDonald of Carriage Factory Art Gallery In-Person

In the class, students will learn about mosaics. Not nearly as old as the dinosaurs, mosaics are 1000 of years old and continue to be discovered and dug up around the world. Each student will create their own mini mosaic, unearthing their own story through color, design, and simple images they like. The individual mosaics will be housed in a tin box that they can unearth time and time again. This event is open to ages 10-18 years old. Registration is required, as spots are limited.

Artist Biography:

Mary Lee-McDonald, a Kansas-based artist, explores a variety of mediums with a focus on texture, vibrant color, and the love language that music conveys. Mediums include painting, sculpture, and mosaic. Her work often features a variation of glass and ceramic tesserae and strong emphasis in mosaic painting, anchored in nature and figurative themes. Striving to balance self expression, with the hope of an intimate connection that engages the view. Mary's work has been featured in both private and public collections, currently a member artist at the Carriage Factory Art Gallery, and collaborative exhibits. She has also received recognition for her gallery work as director of the year and Art Enhance of the year.
